View Full Version : Being Cheated at Lottery?

I just caught the end of DJ Angel's Show and his lottery. He said if you do not answer in 5secs the pot will roll over to next week. Ive always had at least a 5sec lag when tuning in.
Gotk was the winner and he spoke up WHEN HE HEARD HIS NAME ANNOUNCED which was over 5sec later. DJ Angel sticking to his crappy guns wouldnt give up the ISK until everyone complained. However he only gave 100m of the 130m pot.
I do believe there should be a time limit, but should be longer than 5secs and b4 turning over to the next DJ. And if you are not going to be ingame, tell the DJ so you they can wipe your name out. And whatever the rule is, that it be uniform for all DJs.

hi there, i was in the chanel during that show. he gave ample time for gotk to respond. some dj's are nicer than others.
gotk said he was lagged. angel felt sorry and gave 100 mill

100 is better than nothing.

i normally give the duration of a song. i believe angel did the same for a shorter mp3

I do not recall ample time, i myself was paying attention to corp/alliance/intel chat while listening for the name that was not mine to confirm i lost 2million ISK buying a couple tickets. For the hell of it i switched to EveRadio chat and saw IM HERE IM HERE and then the song had stopped.
Like i suggested, give until just before turnover. Do the whole rollover thing if they dont speak up by then. Seems a lot more fair that way.

Im sure if you are that upset about it we can send you the 2 million ISK.

seriously!
just stop and listen to yourselves...or read yourself in this instance

lottery is exactly what it says on the tin.
a lottery!

we all go in to lagging and delays..wanna go all technical about it.
you could never make that one fair for everybody

like a game of tag you gonna moan because everyone else is faster than you.

sounds like you werent paying attention and the other guy/girl was quicker off the mark.

so what have we learnt from all this?

I don't me to continue this but I feel as though I should point something out....

Even if they person's stream was lagging, there are still two ways that he or she could have realized they had won. For almost every lottery I have been online for at least one of two things happen. The first is that many times the dj will actually type the name of the winning in the in-game channel. The second is that usually as soon as the winner is announced the channel is flooded with people saying "Congrats (insert name)." As long as the person is paying some kind of attention to the in-game channel, and unless everyone's stream is lagging a lot (even if this happens the dj still could have posted the name), it would be very difficult to miss the fact that you have won and take even as long as a song to respond.

Like i havent thought of that? Of course we all know when the lotto is gonna happen, but we are playing a game here, 100% more important then staring at Eve Radio Chat

There are plenty more stations and plenty more Competitions out there, to win isk from. But if badgering Dj's because you didn't win isk, is the only thing you can think about doing to pass the guilt of not winning, thats not our fault.

Perhaps we should stop giving away isk or stop Lottery's all together, is that what you want to happen. Then you can whine about not being able to afford that +5 implant till the Jovian Cows come home!

You win, you lose. Thats Life!
You Lose, You moan. Thats EVE!

I had said about 20+ time before the lotto was drawn that the lotto would be run in-game channel (EVE Radio). I had also stated that if you dont reply in 5sec of me TYPING your name then it would roll over!

If you were not happy with this, then why did you enter?

Everyone knew the rules and no one asked with anything could be changed.
I also said I will play this song, (can't remeber what one) and then I will do the lotto at the end. that gave you 3Mins+ to get your arse over in the EVE Radio channel ready for the draw.

I gave Ulth the 100Mill as most people were say go on Angel give the ISK, so I gave him 100Mill not 130Mill for not paying attention.
I am sure he lernt his leasson and so have you.

So, I your not happy with the Lotto Rule, DON'T ENTER!

Im sorry that maybe Corp Voice Chat was more important than Eve Radio. I guess i will stop entering if the game cannot come first. Take it easy makin all the ISK.

Hiya all I just wanted to put in my 2penneth here, basically as Rico said the Lottery is just that as in competitions etc:

Every individual DJ explains the rules hoever many times, also tells the listeners when the Lottery/competition will begin numerous amounts.

It is up to each individual DJ how they want to do their own Lottery/Comp, also how much they wish to pay out how much per entrant blah blah blah.

I have had times where listeners have pm'd me and asked me for their entrance fees back because they didn't win, lets all write to Camelot or whoever it is cos its very rare i win and ask them for our money back, do ya think we would get it NO.

Once the DJ has declared a winner as at all other specified times it is up to the individual how long they give you to respond, and you must always be in channel to say im here or whatever, If you dont show up within the alloted time they specify then you dont win then it goes onto some one else, Im afraid the lottery/comps are as in life you win you lose and so on and so forth .

There are always listeners that moan about not winning or the DJ's fixed it scenario which is utter codswallop, ok rant over.

Dawny :-)

dunno what happened here, but 5 seconds is way too short, its plain unfair. and this isnt about right n wrong, eve radio is here to provide a service, and if that service isnt fair then arnt they failing the listeners?

id say minimum of 30 seconds to claim a prize.

i dont speak for all, but ....

when i have called the winner out and typed ingame, i wait a tune (2-6 mins depending on next tune) and then i draw next winner

im sure angel will be devestated at the fact he has lost an annoying listener who admitted to paying more attention to their corp voice chat then to eve radi oso could easily have missed the fact the winner was called.

angel must be crying emo tears as i type. its ok angel be strong

plenty more noobs in teh eve !

p.s sarcasm in large amounts
