I left EVE back in 2005 but I like everyone has been reading up on what happened and all the information I've read says that BoB were disbanded by one guy. Am I the only one here that thinks that is poor design due to CCP's part and this is more of an exploit because I think if you spoke to CCP they'd tell you that one guy being able to disband an Alliance wasn't part of the plan. In real life something as big as an Alliance, all the leaders have a say and the shareholders have a vote and the largest majority wins.

I think what has happened, even if CCP took a role back that this has shaken BoB up too much that even going back to before all this will still lead to their downfall. However CCP really need to patch in a new system to stop this from ever happening again. BoB wasn't beaten by anyone but just a victim of a really exploit or design flaw in the system.

In other news I want to know what happened to Rona?

Am I right in saying that this one person was CEO of a corp in the alliance though? Even at Director level that's some pretty serious infiltration to let someone get to director level of the corporation which administers the alliance.

When your alliance gets so big that its not just your mates from the pub on the board, bad things are bound to happen.

I do agree though that perhaps it should work more like when someone steps down as a CEO, it goes to the next person in the list. The alliance continues, until some sort of more robust mechanism exists to really disband it like a vote of its member CEO's.

On the other hand it would be just as easy to have the corporation responsible for the alliance admin to be a tiny close knit mega high security operation ran by one man and his dog in a locked basement.

Certain going to provide some thought provocation for a lot of alliances big and small all over the universe for the next few weeks! Funtimes!

I think the problem is you'll never be able to trust anyone in EVE unless you know them in real life. So better Alliance mechanics need to be in place as not everyone has friends who play the game and really EVE should be about fun and not a job. This is why I quit because the game just turned into more of a job and people expected you to be on every night and devote your life to the game. CCP need to put better mechanics in place to look after things for ou when you arn't playing the game. You put your trust in one person for them to just be like "I fancy a change and I might aswel take the rest down with me" and one person shouldn't have such power.

I know this has happened before and people will moan if CCP give BoB any help here because all the other times got ignored as they were lesser important corps. So I think CCP needs to patch in new Alliance features in the next expansion to prevent thing from ever happening again. Funny how making an Alliance takes longer than shutting one down. Also funny how a game that puts so much emphasis on being able to train while you're offline makes it so you need to be on constantly baby sitting whats going on because the right features arn't in place to protect these things from happening.

I know all this is in the EVE rules but I personally think it is a disgrace to what that guy did and really just shows everyone why the EVE Online community is known as one of the worst and nastiest. I know people who try EVE for the first time and are put off by the lag lol, but also the fact that everyone is so horrible. Wheres the content in the game to reward the Good and punish the bad just like the real world?

We must live on different planets

I've always known the eve community to be as nice as any other, these epic events are what makes eve more interesting than most other mmo's.
