Before i start I'm sorry if this is is the wrong section.
How much does it cost to set up and run just one station. I know its like 600 for the lot but all i wanted to know is how much an individual one cost so i could set up my own. Thats with all the legal costs too.

£600 is just what we ask for in donations, it costs much more to keep things running.

The main problem people have with trying to start up their own stations is time.
As we know from experience, people want a live DJ 24/7 which is impossible with just a small handful of people running a station.

Then you have to make sure you don't have dead air, because people don't come back to non streaming stations, then you have to setup websites, each DJ needs to purchase their own copy of sam or whichever broadcasting software they want to use and finally advertise your station.

If you can work through all those minor details, google is your best friend for finding prices for hosting, broadcast servers etc...

That depends on how whiter than white you want to be. Not that I encourage not paying your licensing fee's but it's worth looking at territories where the laws guiding online broadcasting are a little grey. Of course, if you're running a small station (say less than 50 concurrent listeners) the chances of you getting noticed by the crusaders of the world (RIAA for example in the US) I don't think you got much to worry about.

An organisation our size ... well, that's another story entirely ...
