I noticed something the other day. I got two streams for EvE radio.

http://85.17.15.22:8000
and
broadband.eve-radio.com

Are they both the same stream. I am pretty sure they are, but this is also a sort of conversation breaker for the forum.

You can currently connect to the streams directly by using broadband.eve-radio.com:8000 or the direct IP address in several players like winamp. We are, however, going to begin phasing direct connections out in the coming months so you might wanna start getting used to using our own popup player via the tune in button on our station websites.

Is that just for EveO, or is that going to happen for the other stations too?

It'll be network wide eventually.

Will there be any kind of a direct connection server. I know sometime the little pop up window for the in-browser player can be inconvienent, especially when IE or Firefox Crashes. And having the ability to play using Winamp or WMP directly lets you use your audio settings to modify the BASS and whatnot to your personal liking.

How will this affect the people who like these functions? What would you encourage to help keep people from feeling negatively towards this?

Not trying to pin anyone down here (If I sound that way), just professionally trying to sound curious.

At least i have found, especially with Winamp, it allows the listener to see the currently played track artist and a title, as well as server name. Obviously its from a shoutcast server, so winamp would be fully compatible with it, unlike WMP, thats just provided the Server connection name.

in respects to the GRN popup player...

I believe if you have your WMP/Winamp settings to how you like them on your PC, the grn pop up player will use those settings, to launch the windows mini player. Unlike Winamp which will launch the main program to connect to the stream, thus using a direct connection anyway. It will use your own personal settings rather than any generic ones.

I have not tested this theory with Real Player or Quicktime, but i believe it works in the same way...

I hope this clarifies things a bit more....
