Just curious if the 192kbps requirement for MP3s, as seen while filling out a DJ app for BIR, is correct. Seems a bit high. :confused:

Given the year that we are living in, 192 isnt high at all. Infact, most ripping software is defaulted to 192 these days, since most CD Drives can rip a whole CD at 192 kbps in about 5 min or less, and computers come with like 300GB HDDs now, which can hold plenty of 192kbps MP3s. And if it's on the application, then it's probably a requirement. Though, I think it means for the MAJORITY of your music, they need to be 192kbps or higher. Even though the stream runs at 128kbps, it still sounds better if you downsample it from a 192kbps mp3.

Yes, this requirement is correct. There are a number of reasons for this, including future proofing for some new services which we are looking at in the medium to long term.
